How do children learn to read? What motivates them? Why do some succeed whilst others struggle?
In this talk award-winning local filmmaker Sam Benstead shares clips and insights from his most recent BBC documentary “B is for Book”. Described as “magical and spellbinding” by the Observer, the film follows a group of children aged 4-5 over a year as they learn how to read.
Sam is joined by Lucy Duncalfe, Literacy Co-ordinator at Lindfield Primary Academy, as they talk about lessons from the film and experiences in teaching children to read.
