Mid Downs radio announcements

Look out for and listen closely to favourite DJs Sol and Wendy from Mid Downs Radio.

No, sadly this year there’s no broadcasting van, however; they will be letting you know over the public address system about what events are happening and interviewing our favourite local celebrities.

At the Information Point you will find, kindly helping with the PA announcements and giving out programme reminders, local presenters Wendy Swinton-Eagle and Sol Mead from Mid Downs Radio.

Rok Skool – Crysis

Hereward Kaye and his fabulous performers are offering the Festival some great entertainment, from poetry, female pop vocals to rock bands. Plenty to see and listen to. Hereward will be reading some of his dark poetry in between the vocalists and choirs in the morning.

Sussex Rok Skool opened in September 2006, caters for all ages on a world of musical creation, exploration and performance. They are pioneers of a growing movement and now have over 200 students, 15 bands and rooms resounding to the sound of singing, guitar, bass, drum and keyboard lessons, recording sessions and band rehearsals. Rok Skool is a vibrant, vibey place to be. And these days it’s about kids and adults– they’ve got a female choir, a new adult start-up band, a 10 piece Jools Holland style big band (all beginners 2 years ago; now out and gigging) and adults in vocal coaching getting better by the week and performing live.

And you can see some of these acts performing at Lindfield Arts Festival Saturday 17th September 2016 in the URC Church and Red Lion pub.

Silhouette Show

Time – 20:00- 23:00 hrs
Venue – Stand Up Inn

1950's Publicity 2

The Silhouette Show are a three part vocal harmony group, based in Sussex, paying tribute to the music of the 1900’s to the 1960’s.

Karen, Chloe & Sarah have come together with a shared love of retro and vintage music, to create an Andrews Sisters-esque trio that delivers all the hits of the day, from Vera Lynn to Chubby Checker, from Billie Holiday to The Temptations, and everything in between. In their vintage glitz, and with their playful choreography, The Silhouettes will take you from 1900 to 1960.

Whether you prefer the shake and rattle of rock and roll, or the morale-boosting melodies of the War Time Classics, The Silhouettes will have you jiving to ‘Jailhouse Rock’ one minute and swaying to ‘We’ll Meet Again’ another.
So get your glad rags on, and clear those lungs, for a musical tribute you won’t forget!

Zumba dance workshop

A Guest Blog by Becky Stevens, Dance2Tone.

Dance2 tone logo

I’ve been dancing since I was just five-years-old and, as a professional dancer and choreographer, I have worked throughout Europe and the United Kingdom. For many years I performed with dance troupes across Tenerife until I formed, choreographed and managed my own troupe, Dancesation. We enjoyed dancing all over the island until we moved back home and now perform around the UK and abroad.

I have also had the fantastic opportunity to collaborate and dance with tribute acts, dance at Disneyland, Paris, and choreograph and perform in many shows for holiday parks across the country. I am a qualified and experienced Zumba, Zumba Kids and Fitsteps Instructor, holding classes throughout Sussex.

My recent venture has been to design my new dance fitness classes for children called Popsteps. Popsteps is a fantastic dance programme where the children get to dance to their favourite songs, freestyle, learn routines and be creative and choreograph their own routines. There is a huge sense of fulfilment teaching the children and seeing them succeed while having great fun! Ballet2tone for adults is also something I have developed using all my training, knowledge and experience. This is a great fitness class designed to tone and sculpt the body using ballet technique.

FitSteps is the result of a collaboration between ‘Strictly Come Dancing’s’ professional dancers Natalie Lowe and Ian Waite and Britain’s most successful swimmer Mark Foster. It is a mix of the graceful steps of Ballroom and the up tempo steps of the Latin dances to create a really fun, energetic and effective way to stay fit. It is the first time that classic Latin and Ballroom dances have been brought together with proven fitness techniques and principles to create not only a programme that can have extraordinarily wide appeal but one that also has the potential to make a real and lasting impact on the health of the nation. We’re proud to say that we have had people from the age of 9 to 74 participating, all of whom loved the experience!

I love being an instructor and enjoy seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces as they participate in my classes. It is amazing to see how much their confidence rises every week as they dance, have fun and keep fit to the beats. You can see a demonstration of the classes I run at the Lindfield Arts Festival on the High Street, on Saturday 17th September and join in the workshops in the URC Church too! Bring your dancing shoes!

SWOOVE SWOOVE SWOOVE

Swoove is excited to be a part of the Lindfield Arts Festival again this year, not only because we officially launched at the LAF 2015 with a sell out class, but because it is such a fantastic community event to be a part of.
Swoove means to sing, whoop and move and is a singalong exercise class.

There are now 30 different programmes within the Swoove brand, the original one being Swoove Fitness. There is Swoove Aqua, Swoove Combat, Swoove Ignite, Swoove Stretch and many more.

You will be able to Swoove on the High Street on the Saturday morning, then in the URC between 10-11am.

Claire will be taking the 10am Swoove Fitness class, this is for all ages and abilities.

Esther will be taking the 12.15pm Swoove Mini class and this is for mums/dads/carers and their little ones. You get a workout whilst your little one can play in a safe environment.

We look forward to swooving with you over the arts festival weekend, so make sure you grab yourself a ticket as they will go quicker than you can say “Swoovy”!
