Haywards Heath 175th Anniversary Celebrations together with the Lindfield Arts Festival

Lindfield Arts Festival are delighted to be joining the parade on Sunday 18th September to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the arrival of the railway and first steam train into Haywards Heath.   There is already wide and enthusiastic support for these events.

Our very own graffiti train tribute will be accompanied by Popsteps and a team of Lindfield Arts Festival supporters all dressed appropriately in Victorian costumes.  The procession will leave via the Station and make its way up to Victoria Park where there will be some amazing activities.  The programme is looking very interesting.HH 175 route

Our annual Arts Festival takes a lot of organisation and we are thankful for our small team of volunteers. However, Haywards Heath are putting on a mammoth day of events at different locations in the town.

The weekend of historical celebration will bring together the community including clubs, societies, schools, businesses and the people of Haywards Heath.  The partners and supporters of this event include Network Rail, Southern Rail, HHTC, MSDC and WSCC.

We are told that amongst the planned activities and the parade there will be a Steam Engine, together with Bluebell Stepney, a Victorian Fun Fair, railway exhibitions, train rides, a big film screen, live battles, art displays, competitions, stalls and a horse and carriage.

So enjoy Lindfield Arts Festival on Saturday 17th September in Lindfield on the High Street, watch the graffiti train come to life and then venture out again on Sunday 18th September to support Haywards Heath’s town celebrations.   For more information contact Ruth de Mierre on 01444 453399 or Tim Briggs on 07799 643721.
